My Honest Review of the Douglas Mattress by GoodMorning.com

I have partnered with GoodMorning.com and was provided with a mattress in exchange for my thoughts. My opinions are my own. Did you know that Douglas Mattress was the original bed in a box? It’s a first of its class, made in Canada and offering Canadians the best value when shopping for a new mattress. By making Douglas Mattresses in Canada they get to avoid the carbon footprint associated with international transportation. All foam, fabric, and packaging are sourced from Canadian suppliers and every mattress is crafted in Ontario and Quebec, Canada.  Along with their material,  every Douglas cover contains sustainable Tencel®️ fibre, which is produced from renewable wood sources using an efficient closed-loop process that creates almost zero waste. This strong and biodegradable fibre is spun into a durable thread that is used to create the unique Douglas cover. When we received our order, we opted for contactless delivery the box was not heavy at all.  It’s amazing that there was a mattress in there!   Once you pull it out and remove the plastic, it puffs up and is ready to be used.  I didn’t find the odour from the materials to last long at all.  My daughter was very excited to get a new mattress and we opted for the Twin XL to review.  Her twin sister has a Twin XL as well and it fits their beds perfectly. It’s important to use a base that allows your GoodMorning.com mattress to perform its best for you. Douglas recommends using platform bed frames that have an untreated wood surface, non-medical adjustable beds that are completely upholstered, or bed frames that use non-flexing horizontal woods slats that are at least 2″ wide and no more than 3″ apart. At Douglas, they do not recommend using traditional box springs that are made of springs, coils, a metal grid or are flexing. They also do not recommend using a frame with steel slats. Using a base that does not meet the requirements, will make your new GoodMorning.com feel soft, will cause premature sagging, and will void your 15-year warranty. If you have a traditional box spring, metal frame, or slatted bed frame that you wish to keep that does not meet the requirements, they strongly advise to place a sheet of unfinished plywood at that is at least 0.5″ thick over top of your base for your new mattress to rest on. That will provide the support it needs and will make your base compatible with your new mattress. What kind of sleeper are you?  The Douglas mattress offers: Supportive spinal alignment for side sleepers Balanced support for back sleepers Pressure-point relief for stomach sleepers What is in the Douglas Mattress? 1) Douglas Cool Sense Cover: A washable cover containing sustainable Tencel® fibres. Inspired by the mountains of Western Canada, the CoolSense® cover draws moisture away, leading to a cool, dry night. 2) 2″ Luxury Eco-Light Cooling Gel Foam:  Made with up to 40% less carbon input, ecoLight® cooling gel foam is just as durable†, responsive, and luxurious as high-density memory foam but won’t retain heat or feel like quicksand. 3) 2″ Premium Elastex Foam:  Mimicking the supportive and responsive properties of natural latex foam, Elastex®️ is made without the chemicals found in many natural latex mattresses which could cause allergic reactions. 4) 6″ Motion Isolation Support Foam: Like millions of tiny pocket-coil springs, Douglas’ support foam eliminates motion transfer between sleepers without sacrificing edge support. As my daughter grows, I want the best in support as her spine develops, a child’s spine is fully developed by the age of 12 so having the right mattress for me is very important.  With the High bounce Elastex® transition layer for spring and support, not only is this mattress great for support but it is also comfortable.  I find she is sleeping better throughout the night as her older mattress was a coiled one but very soft- a little too soft so this has been a great addition to our home.  With the Douglas mattress, there is no excessive sinking as it sets the stage for uninterrupted sleeping.  Even when her twin or me(!) snuggles in bed with her.  What are the Pricing and Warranty?  It’s always the best deal with Douglas Mattress and you can find great deals on their accessories by following them on Twitter: Prices start at $599 and at a Twin size and go up to California King at $849. By skipping retail store markups and selling directly to you. That’s how you high-quality, Canadian-made mattresses for such low prices. You also get a 120 Sleep trial with impeccable customer service should you change your mind within the 30-120 days. There is also free shipping and free returns and a 15yr warranty. If you choose to return it, they will arrange for it to be picked up and sent to a local charity whenever available. You’ll get a full refund once your mattress has been collected. Oh, and Douglas Mattress helps arrange that part, too! They never re-sell or restock returned mattresses in any capacity so you are always getting a brand new mattress made just for you.    I think I’m ready to upgrade to a Douglas mattress myself!  My arms are getting numb as I try to sleep on my current mattress and I want to get the same quality of sleep that my daughter gets.  We absolutely love our Douglas mattress and have collaborated with GoodMorning.com on their other mattresses as well. It’s a brand and company I recommend and stand behind.   If you have any questions, feel free to comment below and I’ll do my best to answer them.
